 7th century Arabia. A time of feuding tribes vying for power and supremacy.  周枫和林山是颇有造诣的喜剧大师，两人合演的《人生百态》等喜剧小品，深受观众的欢迎。有一天，周枫查出患了喉癌，手术后，嗓子再也不能发声了。周枫为此异常痛苦，在林山开导下，两人竟然用以前灌制的节目录音带欺骗观众，不料被发现后，被观众赶下台来。一次偶然的机会，周枫发现了哑剧小品的表演方式，他与林山重整旗鼓，勤学苦练，终于又可以登台演出了，不料周枫却突然晕倒，在幻觉中表演了人生最后也是最为精彩的一出节目。
