　　女儿为父亲复仇的故事。讲述女主回到家乡探望她的父亲，却发现他在小屋里遭受了酷刑和谋杀。在寻找答案的过程中，她遇到了阴险的治安官和其兄弟，发现了比她想象中更令人不安的家庭遗产。

在将军德川家齐统治下的文政年间，老中水野忠成与水野忠邦在幕府内展开激烈的权力斗争。此时，携带名刀“无想正宗”的神秘浪人眠狂四郎（长谷川博己 饰）现身江户，并受忠邦的亲信之命，暗中刺杀刺客。被他斩杀的刺客颈上佩戴着象征基督信仰的念珠。随后，狂四郎将此物交还给刺客的妹妹静香，引发信徒与豪商备前屋的反击，双方为守护与暗杀而对立。另一方面，大目付松平主水正也奉忠成之命，派遣剑豪追杀狂四郎。权谋与信仰交织，一场错综复杂的生死之战即将展开。
